Ultimate Spring Party Ideas

Last weekend we were hit with 10 inches of snow. I can't lie, I'm a winter baby and it's a gorgeous scene. But, I'm seriously looking forward to that Spring weather. My mom's birthday is April 13th and I'm going all out for a cute little birthday shindig. I've been searching deep in the web aka Pinterest to find the perfect Spring party ideas and I know I'm not the only one, so let's swap ideas!

Mom's Ultimate Spring Party Plan

So far, we're headed in a room filled with fresh flowers, pastel colors and delicious aromas direction. One thing at a time....let's start with food.

Menu

I decided to make all of her favorite foods. Things that she loves but doesn't get as often as she'd like. In a nutshell this means seafood, dainty tea time sandwiches, hearty salads and citrus drinks. So, here's the menu thus far.

Soup: Lobster Bisque The cozy temperatures of the Spring will get everyone in the mood for some hearty lobster soup. It's quick, easy and tastes amazing.

Sandwich: Cucumber Tea Sandwich. My mom loves cucumber sandwiches. This cool and light favorite is a perfect way to bring in the Spring-Time. Recipe

Salad: Baby Leaf Spinach Salad with the works. Mom hearts veggies. So I'm loading this with fresh diced tomato, purple onion, carrot julienne, pasta, smoked fish and a light balsamic vinaigrette.

Entree: Mini Crab Cakes. Panko Crusted Shrimp. Lemon Herb Wingettes. Roasted Potatoes, Sauteed Vegetables

Dessert: My mom has always dreamed of having a 5 layer 3 tiered cake....sounds a lot like a wedding cake. But hey, she loves cake. So, we decided on a Spring inspired 2 tier cake. One with chocolate cake and vanilla frosting and the other, yellow cake with lemon, raspberry, blueberry filling and vanilla frosting.

Entertainment

Two things my mom, sister and I have always loved to do- sing and play games. Music has always been a big part of my family, so it's only natural that I bust out the new karaoke machine. I'll have it set up in the den with a couple of mics plugged in. I'll also set out a few board games. I have each and every single Monopoly game ever made but, the family fav is definitely Scrabble.

This May is the month that both my mom and I graduate!! Amazing right! My mom's worked so hard for the past 7 years, receiving her Bachelors and then 2 Masters Degree's. So this party might turn into a mash-up of a graduation and birthday party. Either way it's going to be about celebration of life and showing appreciation to my most favorite person in the world :D
